The rewards and drawbacks of the various heating gas boiler forms

Different types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. Almost all these systems have a heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to central heating radiators.

Across the majority of Northern Europe the climate is not warm enough to warrant air conditioning. That is why in the UK most houses built these days are made with Central Heating Systems fully integrated into the home.

With wintertime coming up round the corner heating should be at the front of your mind. While snowstorms rage on outside, you can be safe and warm on the inside. So you want to be sure that your Gas Central Heating System is dependable. It is important to have peace of mind that your Gas Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.

Pumped/vented and sealed are the two main types of Central Heating Systems on the market.

Pumped/vented systems are the most frequent. A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System includes components known as a feed and expansion tank to allow for the expansion of water as it is heated in the heating radiators. The tank supplies your house with hot water and provides the heating radiators with heat. Any water expansion that may occur due to heating is handled by the expansion tank. You will most likely find the expansion tank kept in the highest part of the house. It heats the house and doubles as the water supply.

A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems.

The sealed Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. This system doesn’t have water tanks as it’s a closed heating system, this will save you space and reduce maintenance costs as there are fewer components. There are no pipework or tanks also in the attic, the system is sealed in the true sense and it has its own advantages.

- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.

- loft space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.

- The danger of a leaking water tank is all together missing.

- The air cannot enter the system as its sealed and hence there are lesser risks of sludge, corrosion and air locks developing.

- The mains water supply can flush the sealed system if needed.

The sealed Gas Central Heating system is a fully packaged system with all the controls and safety devices already in place. The mains water supplies the water required for the sealed Gas Central Heating system. The main water supply feeds the system directly under pressure.

Normal variations of pressure can be allowed in a sealed system through a pressure vessel that contains compressed gas; this is separated from the sealed system water by a diaphragm. The pressure in a sealed Gas Central Heating System is controlled by a valve that lets water out if the pressure becomes too high and opens to refill the system with water if the pressure gets too low.

As compared to other heating systems, Gas Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. They also offer you all round control which is more than most heating systems do.
